Peony Stone

Starting with hand-painted studies of peonies, the Mark Alexander studio worked to create an artwork with a naturally aged character. The design is partially printed in a conventional way, whilst upholding the integrity and authenticity of hand block printing, a traditional artisanal process where we hand block printed over the top many of the key elements. With a handcrafted appearance, imprecise lines and variable shading give this printed design a gentle naivety and vintage character.
